Default HELP- Stalls in idle with warm engine

Hi all

Just got this bike ( CBR 600 F1 ) from 87 and love the handling of this bike:-)

I got one problem--> It starts fine in first attempt ( halv choke on ) but when its warm idle goes from 1000-1800 and stalls if i dont rev it up.

i put some REDEX fuel system cleaner to see if it helped but not the biggest difference,

I tried to give max throttle in 6 gear and only got 100 mph. It was very windy though. mayby nothing to do with this problem.... could be me that just needed to gear down to get a higher speed.

What to do??? dismantle carbs and sync?? do i need to adjust valve clearance first prior to sync???

kind regards

Jan ( From Denmark )

I mostly use the bike on the highway 68-80 mph and fuel economy is 56.5 mpg. so i think that pretty good

Has the bike been stored with fuel in the carbs? Usually poor idle is pilot (idle) circuit. Plugged or dirty pilot jets and passages. Syncing the carbs or adjusting the valves will have little effect on this.

You want to make sure the carbs are clean and the jets are open. Check the fuel screen in the tank, fuel filter, etc. to make sure everything is clean and fuel flow is good.

Is your choke cable actually returning when you push it back down ? If it wasn't returning home fully then as she warmed up the tick over would rise and she would run like a dog ("100mph in top")
Check as dennisgb said and include air filter and that choke cable. Soon have you flying !
Best of luck mate

Definitely sounds like clogged carbs. If they are as gummed up as that, Redex won't stand a chance at shifting it, best to give them a strip down. Basically, what DennisGB & Wes17 said

Well got the speed up to 125 mph. better than the 100 mph:-)

I think 2 of the straps at the carburetor were loose so tightened them a little.

Now it runs even worse :-( Maybe there was false air.

Maybe an adjustment of the carburettor has its place.

And a cleansing.

Is it hard to get those carburettor off???

I also noticed some brown liquid running from the tiny hole left side behind the frame ( shaped like a Y ) what is the hole doing???

Agree with what has been said previously, the brown liquid running from the left hand side could be rusty water leaking from the water pump via the telltale/weep hole ,that will mean seals are failing inside

No, don't panic , its only a matter of dropping the water pump off and renewing the seals, (would have to drop out the coolant first) , have you got the workshop manual it explains it all in there. IF that's where the leak is coming from
