Default My Beautification Project

I bought my 88 Hurricane in April after riding a 1979 Yamaha SR500 for about a year. I wanted something fun, but since I had only been riding on the street for a fairly short time, I also wanted something inexpensive, and did not mind tackling a bit of a project.

This is the project I brought home:

I immediately did some routine maintenance: plugs, oil and air filter. The brake calipers were a bit sticky (probably from sitting), and so they were taken apart and cleaned and the brake fluid was flushed. The fork seals were replaced (the left was leaky). The upper fairing, though damaged and certainly on the ugly side, was repaired (the major work was done here, and the cosmetic work done at the body shop).

I replaced the damaged left side fairing (thanks to spaceman), and I also bought the windscreen support covers from honda502. I bought a muffler, left side vent and a seat (which is currently on it’s way) from ebay. The tires came from swmototires.com, and the decals from xtreemedecals.com (who did not mind my color specific order). The paint scheme was of my design, but done by a local body shop.

So for about $1400 of total investment, here is what I now have:

Let me know what you think!

Looks great! Is that professional paint? Looks like it. Cool that you kept it original looking!(As far as the plastics go) Nice CBR.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

The paint used was a professional paint. I picked the colors and made the design and let the body shop take it from there.

Wow. I really dig the silver too. Not too many canes that color. Really good job.
