I have no idea if my carbs have been rejetted, or what the story is with them, but I'm guessing they have been jetted because my airbox has a series of 1/2 holes drilled side by side down each side of the top of my airbox. When I bought the machine the holes were covered by duct tape and the bike had a huge flat spot on acceleration. With the tape removed, the bike is peppier and the flat spot is gone.

i think theyd have to be jetted if uncovering those hole made it happier,
sometimes these babies can be hard to figure out, what worked great for one bike may not work so well for another, then there are just flukes (like mine)

a kawasaki jet kit in a honda, and its really happy with it....id call that a fluke

I think you may be going over the top with the heater in the front of your car. I know that demisting the screen is an issue but a gas fire is a little ott in my view.

well then i really got away with murder, i followed the kawasakis instruction sheet, the bike runs fine my original jets said "factory" 110, and i have the 132's in place and i used the installation intructions, eclip positioning and what not, but i stuck with my original honda needles....

since i never claimed to be a trained mechanic (or even a good one)
i probably shouldnt have gotten away with it, the bottom line is not how or why for me, its the fact that my 'Cane is running the best it has since ive owned her, so the way im seeing it is if it works go with it, ive noticed slightly better low end, ALOT more high powerband but also my mpgs have decreased a bit, but not enough to worry or care...worth it to me....oh yea, and i checked my plugs, its NOT fouling them

still idles smooth, my needle hangs right on 1k and only fluctuates when shes really cold, but once warm she runs perfect, so thank the bike gods for small favors (or coincidences)

yea keeping the stock needle jets and the larger mains is probably a good setup ( well obviously if its working)

On another note......what the heck is D.shode talking about?

ok yea, i was wondering what that guy was talking about too......

but yea, my stock needles is working very well, ive noticed TONS more response in the powerband like anywhere say 5 to 6k rpm plus, not even w.o.t. she rockets for the redline is insanely fast if i go wide open which ive only done a few times in secluded areas but like even cruising around i barely have the throttle open and she wants to fly, but then also before i changed the jets, the powerband was still good, but not as good as now, but then the low end say i was goin down the road in second gear around 3,000 rpm it used to sound like it was struggling, the rpm stayed even but just sounded boggy, would clear at 4,000 now it doesnt do that its smooth all around

but i dont think bigger main jets would cure it, was just wondering if the rejetting helped clear a mixture issue? ive checked my plugs they are in normal range (basically i know its running better, but interested in learning why, always willing to learn about my baby)

so either way, i may have totally offended trained bike mechanics but this setup is working most times i can get her started no choke, last time i needed the choke was just to start her during winter storage, yes garaged but i couldnt afford a battery tender at the time, (got one for christmas...all set now) but even in like 20 degree snowing weather shed still start right up in that cold garage and she stays running, and my fuel mileage hasnt suffered too bad even with high test and almost dead empty $10 wont fit in the tank

well ok babbling on, but id still love to know if theres anything else i should do with her maybe she is running well enough to make me happy but not full potential? i was gonna get her dyno'd but the snot at the only bike shop around with a dyno refused to do it SWEARING it will blow up, i said id do it myself so he wouldnt be liable and refused stating he didnt want to clean the mess, so i told him off, did a 2nd gear burnout in his lot getting cheers from the onlookers and have never visited that shop again (as well as spread the word of their lousy attitude)

funny, she can handle a 2nd gear burnout (wasnt peggin her rev limiter but 1,000 rpm away from it) then why couldnt she handle a dyno run?

oh last thing....i dont advocate carelessly beating your bike......but it was a damn good smokeshow

guy was a douche, turning down customers isnt worth his time, he probably just knew you werent interested in having him tune it afterwards at 70 or so bucks an hour.

yea, probably jeez i dont know why youd turn down $70 an hour, wait i know....cause id do it myself for free, plus i know a couple other mechanics so if i get stumped i have help, i mean on a whole, ive owned this hurricane 3 years now, and over that whole time that was the third time id ever really lit the tire up good, but its funny tho, if you go from neutral right to second, she breaks it loose really easy, but tires are expensive, plus shes an older girl so i dont wanna beat on her, but figures tho, his g/f was running the shop with him, she said she had a 600 cbr and he seemed to cringe.....so ofcourse i asked what was he running, ofcourse a GSX-R

so my question is now this, why is it that most Gixxer owners think theyre better than everyone?

i know theyre not all like that, but most riders in good old Massachusetts are....

i am an avid honda fan, nothin against the 'Busas but theyre not top dog anymore, there are vids all over youtube of the ZX14 kickin theirs asses
