Default Just dont get it

I have 90 cbr600 just bought it the engine was bad so i bought a engine from a 89 cbr600 it was running two days before i put it in.

I have it in now and i just cant get it to start it turns over put doesnt start. It gets spark at every plug and it gets fuel.

I know it gets fuel because i pulled the plugs after trying to start and they are wet. Ive tried spraying gas in the carbs still didnt fire up.

Ive pulled every plug and made sure everyone is getting spark.

it is the same carb that was on the running engine..

Any suggestions?

Any firing at all? Does it try to start and can't, or does it just turn over

Check your timing. See if you are 180 deg. out. Could you have the wires to the ignition coils reversed?
Let ud know what you find.

I found another thread on here where someone else swapped and they also had to switch the pulse generator. 87-89 models have two and the 90 model has one. so it messes with the CDI. I swapped them out and now it acts like it wants to start but then back fires.

I am think the carbs need to be adjusted and cleaned. But i have no clue on where to start(obviously the cleaning but then not sure where to go). Are there any good walk throughs on setting up the carbs?

Unless the carbs are unbeliebably f**ked up it should at least start. It may not be pretty when it runs but it will run. Your problems lay somewhere else I think.

Check the firing order - especially if you are not running with the stock spark cables.

Yes, for sure, check the wires and make sure they are in the correct cylinders. As for carb cleaning, check the F2 section, there is a sticky I wrote up.

I will double check the spark wire configuration. But i know if you are standing behind the bike looking forward towards the handle bars. The left coil go to the 1st cylinder and the 4th cylinder then the right one goes to the 2nd and 3rd.

When I switched the pulse generator could this have messed the timing up?

Thank you for all of your replies

If you mean valve timing, that is mechanical and will never mess up unless your timing chain slips or breaks, or was never put together properly. As for what generator to use and anything electrical... I am a noob at that stuff. Someone else will have to answer that question. I would think matching the generator and engine by the same year would work fine.

Not sure on an F1, you should be able to just take off the valve cover and see the cam shafts, they have markings on them. Get a shop manual if you plan on doing this. It is the best thing you will ever buy for your bike.
