Default Intermittent start/run

Our 2001 F4i had burned its ground off at the front LH connector, my son reconnected the ground wire around the connector by resoldering. It ran well for a few miles...then, pop! it died. After hauling it home we found by wiggling the ground wire it would start and idle for a bit, getting the ground wire hot to the touch, then die. Now it won't start all. No fuses are blown, additionally, the headlite won't light up now, nor any prime of injectors, when power is turned on. Dead in the garage . Help.

Usually when you toast a ground it is due to high resistance. High resistance can be from corrosion under the ground mount to the frame, inside the wire itself, or from any plug in the ground path.
You posted in the F1 section, for 1987 to 90 F1 Hurricanes. So I can't offer much better than this general advice.
Mods, can you move this to the F4i section?
That way someone who knows that years of bike can take a look at it.
