I have a barn find 1987 cbr 600f which was stored at the seaside for 20 years. The inside of the tank has rust lumps and is beyond saving. Does anyone know what tanks I can use on this bike. I ask because there are a large number available and I would like a particular colour.

 

Pretty much just the Hurricane/F1 tank fits. The F2, F3, F4, F4i, RR, etc don't fit at all. Probably going to have to get one from ebay or a cycle breaker website. Barring that, if you are good with sheet metal, either cut out and weld in new for repair or fabricate a new one.

I thought as much because when you look at the parts catalogue they call it the F14 tank but the pictures of the FH model and the F2 look to have different mounting brackets. As this is one of the first 1000 imported I want to restore it as faithfully as possible. I think it is worth it as it has only 14,000 miles and was dry stored for 20 years.
