ignition fuse blows
hi,have a problem with my CBR 600 FJ 1988,when I turn on the ignition & press starter button the ignition fuse blows,10amp,in the fuse box [under the left hand side handlebars].I have tried some tests ,including cleaning & testing continuity of starter botton, putting in a new battery, checked all fuses including 30amp main fuse on solanoid put in new solanoid, then I got to the fuel pump cut off relay. This is what happens, when the fuel pump relay is connected in normal way.-Turn on the ignition & it's OK,press starter button & the fuse blows. Then if you disconnect the fuel pump relay & put a connecting{annex} wire betwean the Blue/Black blue wires in the connection plug of the relay, when you turn on ignition[but don't press starter] the same fuse blows.Any ideas
It sounds like you have a short circuit in the fuel pump. I have seen one of the internal leads come unsoldered in there...maybe it is shorted to the case. The black plastic cover is removable for inspection.
Hi Thrasher, good call, checked over fuel pump, looked inside, gave a squirt of wd40,tried it out on bench, went OK.Put on bike & it turned over without blowing fuse,so found where fault is,iether it was stuck or shorting somewhere.THANKS
