first question is, what position is which for the fuel valve because they previous owner painted the bike so it does not say.

second is, i did the shake test heard fuel in my tank but it wouldn't start with the valve in any position. so is their a certain point in the tank where the pump just cant pick up when it gets beyond that point. because it really sounded like i had a liter or 2 in there.

UP (counter clockwise) is "on."
Center is "off."
DOWN (fully clockwise) is "Reserve."

this also happened to me. i ran out of gas in "on" so i turned to "reserve" and it would start but whenever i stood the bike up to take back off it would die???????
