Default I have a prob.

Ok so I was told by a friend to check out this site. anyway I have a 1990 cbr600 and I am having probs. So I jumpstart my bike and it will hold a charge for a little bit but also It will turn off if I shake the bike while it is in park. Sounds weird right? Im confused.... Thanks

At first sounded like a rectifier problem, but my SWAG (sophisticated wild a$$ guess), would be that you have a wire shorting out or bad connection. This is one of those moments where you have to weigh your options of playing russian roulette and replacing stuff on your bike till you find the problem or haveing yer local bike shop put it on a diagnostic. Sounds to me like yer rectifier may be on the fritz and is a fairly common issue with bikes that old, but the cutting off when you shake the bike is a tell tale sign of a wiring problem unless yer bike thinks yer putting it in gear with the kick stand down. (pardon my lack for technical terms on the last comment). Bottom lineI had a simular prob and after being stubborn enough to burn up 2 batteries I had a diagnostic and got my rectifier replaced.

sounds like an electrical problem. loose/corroded terminal, could be battery or other.

i also thought reg if its not holding a charge, but it is not uncommon at all for the 20 y/o wires to be corroded and short.

"SWAG" - hahaha. Might not be a bad idea to buy a amperage tester and test it in different areaswhile a buddy shakes it back and forth to try and duplicate the problem. If you got the time, maybe would save you from having to give all your money to the shop.

yeah I put an amp meter on my bike whenI was trying to figure out why she was eating batteries. The bad rectifier was poping the juice up in the 30's. SO I bought battery number 3 and a new rectifier.
