If everything works and it runs good, judging by the photos, I think $1700 is a good price to negotiate with. It looks like all the plastics are there and intact which are by far the most difficult items to replace. Most other parts are readily available on EBAY,Honda or aftermarket suppliers. I would think the seller is really wanting maybe $1500. Offer them $1400 and see what they counter with. Otherwise $1700 for that bike is still an OK price. I paid $1600 for a POS about 12 years ago. I didn't know any better at the time and was desperate for a parts bike to rebuild mine. Good luck!

Bought my '89 from a buddy for $300. Was an old track bike but he'd already made sure everything was sound mechanically. He also provided me with two tubs full of parts he'd accrued over the years. I nabbed a battery for it & will probably spend some money on lights wiring & various replacement parts getting to a street legal streetfighter look.

Bought the '87 from a guy who posted up on the Colorado Sportbike Club forum. I was originally going to use it as a parts bike, but now I'm think'n of making it a full rebuild to let the girlfriend ride when she outgrows her 250 in about 5 minutes. Paid $150 for it.

The streetfight'n '89 runs and I haven't had a chance to go through '87, which will need, at the least, a carb clean before I'll know if it turns over & is gonna be a good rebuild candidate.

I paid $1500 for my 89 last weekend. It was ugly in its black primer (broken, yet all there upper, missing lowers), but came with a complete new fiberglass body. I also got a spare rear wheel (still not clear on why they had that, but whatever).

The bike seems to run as it should. 20,502 on the clock. D&D exhaust...new tires...new chain...new cover on the right side of the motor (am guessing it had a nice lowside crash since all the visible damage on the bike is on that side and that necessitated the new covers).

The price was more than I wanted to pay, but I've wanted one of since they came out, so to me it was definitely worth every penny!

bought mine about amonth and a half ago, its 89, had a yoshi slip on, 25k, started up withno problems, had to replace the battery, so far have put on 2k miles and no other problems except my CCT will need replacing from what it sounds like, so 60 for a battery, 60 for CCT potentially

I paid 300 cash and 30in hdtv(rear projection) so about 500 total and then the battery and cct, 650 total

Look around on craigslist, lot of good bikes on there just need to take your time if you're trying to find that good deal

My 89 hurricane free, but needed new tires front and rear, front brake pads, sync. carbs., spark plugs, rightside rear set, and battery, Registration and insurance. All in all $1000.00 dollars just the parts labor was done by self... Oh, it had 40,000 miles when i got it.. now has 43,000 miles now.. But one major problem number 2 cyclinder is burning oil, possible valve guides.. other than that it's a nice bike 2 ride and race..

Well, after deducting the cost of the new body that came with it, I guess mine only cost $650.00

lol, I agree. trying to think what it was that mine NEEDED, not just things I wanted to do to it to get it back into shape. I guess it rode and passed inspection and the biggest thing was the carbs needed a SERIOUS service as my last 2 friends that had it did nothing in the 5-8 years or so they had it. I put new brake pads in the front as the fork seal on one side leaked. so I guess it did NEED that fixed... I ended up with new chain and sprockets to about $200. everything else was just me making things better but probably not needed.
