After all was said and done I have $1700 in my '87. That includes titling (it had no title, never registed in NC), tires, restriping ($100).

$1800 CDN if you include the full parts bike I picked up a little later. Both were 1989 models. Once I deduct all the parts I sold off of the parts bike probably $1200. My original 'cane needed tires and the parts bike had brand new battleax tires that I put on mine.

Prices around here run all the way up to 3K. I don't know if they actually sell when they are that high though. Typical is $2500 for a mint one, 1800 if it is in okay shape.

I paid a little more than most on a 89 because of the work that was done prior to me buying it. New chain, tires, brakes, sprocket, start switch and some other misc items. Took that into account plus me wanting the bike. I paid about 2400.00 and have put in about 300 or so into it for just some fun mods.

sounds like most canes don't come near 1700 when they're sold.

what would be a better price range that I should be aiming for? i'm thinking anywhere between 1-1.5 if the bike is in proper condition w/o anything needed

how would that sound?

i paid 1600 and at the time i didnt know any better, but the bike was barely running. i think i paid too much as i would probably only buy a mint one for 1800, maybe 2000 if i was really impressed. ive seen lots go for <1000, but mainly around 1100-1300.

and that one is in much better condition than mine was, and still is. cosmetically at least.

I paid about $1400 after all was said and done and I have a pretty nice bike right now, but it was a bit of a project (there is a thread I made about it somewhere). Still I would say that $1500-1700 is not too bad if that bike is really as nice as it looks and needs absolutely nothing in the way of repairs.
