How did you get the beans above the frank? <RANT>
So I'm doing fork seals on 3 of my bikes... My Hurricane, my CX500 Turbo, and my CB900C.
CX500 dust seal has been long gone and allowed water to sit on the snap ring. It snapped - in two. Oh well, I'll get started on the Hurricane. Left fork goes great, right fork feels strange coming apart and crap flies everywhere - but the guide bushing is still in the lower tube? WTF previous owner? How did you do that? I seriously don't know how he got that thing together. He must have hammered the guide bushing in first, but how he got the slider bushing under it is a mystery to me. Anyway, I was able to get the guide bushing out of the tube - which was a ***** - and salvage the fork.
Here's the funny part - to me anyway. All of my Hondas take the same bushings and seals and clips, so I robbed the CB900 to get the turbo and hurricane back together, then ordered parts.
Rant over, all bikes together now and WOW what a difference in handling, ride and braking! Easy job for those of you who have not done it. You don't NEED a fork seal installer tool either. PVC pipe works great.
