Default Handlebar control touchup

Im wanting to rejuvenate the color back into my controls on the handlebars. I have actually used the 'tire slick' spray; which made the controls slippery. It was too dangerous so I cleaned them thoroughly and have yet to try anything else. Anyone have any luck with 'Back-to-Black' or will that stuff make the controls slippery too? Any other suggestions?

Just replace the grips. They are cheap and there are plenty of alternatives out there.

I think he is talking about the plastic portions where the horn, turn signals headlamp switch and starter button resides. Mine are also sun faded slightly.

Thats right Rob. The plastic where the horn and turn signal controls are. I think making them look newer would transform my bike at least 5-6 years newer!

I had thought about using plastic dye to them, however the lettering would be non existent at that point. The lettering on mine is already gone to the point its not readable. If anyone has ideas i'm also interested in hearing them.

I think some kind of plastic/bumper restoration product like the back to black stuff would work well. In my experience most of those chemicals do make the surface more slippery though. I have a detailing product called bumper magic that I might try on mine and see how it turns out.

The mothers black restore works pretty good, but you have to keep putting it on. A soon as you stop and it dries out it goes very very sun faded.
