Right! engines out , me and a mate and some elbow grease literally undone it he held the engine on some wood blocks and I lifted the bike up and over , getting it in might be trouble , might have to get a jack , will now swap all the good bits over to the new engine , give it a clean and new one in
Gonna be doing the same thing with my bike. Want to get the engine out to derust and repaint the frame, and I'm thinking that getting it out is going to be a pain, but nothing compared to getting it back in. Not helped that a previous owner, in their wisdom, decided to remove the centre stand
Anyone got any tips?

Getting the engine back in is definitely a two man job, I was lucky enough to borrow an engine jack which gave me a stable enough platform to drop the frame over and then raise and lower to joggle the engine into position. ISTR that getting the lower rear mounting aligned was a fiddly job, the other mounting points could be left loose but that one is fixed - also, the engine when fitted is not parallel to the ground so the engine jack presented it at slightly the wrong angle.
It took the two of us about 40 minutes to get it in so not too bad for first timers.
Oh no! I got that to look forward to , right now I’m taking this old engine apart because it’s in a lot better nick then the one what has to go in , I think I’m might just try to use parts from the new to fix the old
