Have I then got to get new head gaskets or can I reuse these as no heat has gone threw it , I think I already no the answer but I’m hoping someone will say I can reuse them 😔

Nope, can’t re-use. Once they’re compressed, they won’t seal next time around.

Do you have factory service-manual? Get one if you don't. Really, really helps with these types of repairs as there's often little "secret tips" they have that's not obvious. Don't use Haynes, Chilton or Clymer manuals, they often have errors, especially with electronics.

Tip#1: clean off head-bolts really well, no grime or grit allowed. Lightly coat threads with machine-oil (sewing-machine oil works well). Apply oil to underside of washer & bolt-head. This reduces friction and gives more accurate reading of bolt-stretch on torque-wrench.

Tip#2: any bolt that comes off regularly should have anti-seize: oil-pan drain-bolt

Tip#3: any bolt that doesn't come off regularly should have thread-locker: rear sprocket nuts, oil-pump gear bolt, cam-sprocket bolts, valve-adjuster locknuts on older bikes, valve-cover bolts, side-cover bolts, etc.


Use torque-wrench on everything! Need 1/4" drive on smaller 6mm bolts like side-case covers. Remember, there's never enough time to some something right 1st time around. But there's ALWAYS time to do it again!!!

Great knowledge thank you so I used lock tight on the oil pump sprocket bolt, but this time round I’ll do all of these bolts that don’t regularly come out so the ones inside engine etc , I torque everything this time , also I have the online manual for the cbr on achive.com but yes I will pick up my mate tonight and I’m getting this stripped again I know exactly what the issue is , and I will get it right this time !! F***k!!

Gaskets arrived but going to Netherlands tomorro so will be dreaming bout this all week I’m sure

Hey guys so before stripping down my engine I thought I would have a trail run on the spare….
the video is probably super painful to watch so if your pulling out your hair watching it I apologise to start with, so I’m trying to line up these 3 forks on to the gears but I cannot for the life of me get them to sit , I’ve made sure the gears are sitting correctly but my issuers with the bottom half and the forks , I have rotated the small shift drum a few times so I don’t know if that is ment to be in a certain position and I’ve moved it or if it doesn’t matter how it’s rotated , all of the forks are seated in there channels but I just can’t seem to get them to sit on the gears, any help would really go a long way I’ll be away for a week then need to get on this asap when I’m back thanks guys and Yh sorry about the vid 😂

So in the manual it says to place the folks where the arrows are and there’s only two and this is where I can installed in the good engine the two forks in the same position and the top one sitting above but not engaged in to the gears but 5,6 don’t engage so this is what I though was the issue , that I only put two in , and the manual shows two in and not the centre, ?
