Fuel pump questions
Hi all,
I've been trying to get my '87 cane started and I've narrowed it down to a fuel delivery problem. I don't seem to be getting any fuel to the carbs. I tested the pump itself using the clymer manual, and it tested fine, so I know the pump works. When I turn the ignition on, the fuel pump doesn't do anything, and when I push the starter, only a tiny bit of fuel dribbles out of the pump (only a few drops). My question is, when I turn the ignition on, shouldn't the fuel pump prime a little to send fuel to the carbs? Also, when cranking the engine using the electric starter, shouldn't the fuel pump be pumping? I already replaced the battery, so that's not the problem. If anyone can tell me how this fuel system is supposed to work, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
