Default fuel leak....help

89 cbr600

where the tank attaches to the **** that turns the fuel on/off/reserve. the nut has come loose and now it leaks out all the gas whenever any is put in the tank. i cant seem to get the nut back on . any suggestions? other then not being able to put any gas in it anymore the bike runs great. heres a picture. i hope i dont have to take the tank off to fix this problem. i want it to run before i change the body over. i have a newer cbr sans engine with full racing body and exhaust sitting ready to switch over to.

there is a plastic washer under the nut with a o ring and a filter.look at the area close to see if the tank is rusted or cracked and check the oring and filter

the tank is good. it could be the o ring. the newer cbr without the engine has a tank and all ready so i might just switch it all over. i was just hoping to have it be an easy fix.

take the tank off. Don't be scared. It's very very easy, and you have to do it a lot on these bikes anyway, so learn how to do it.
