Default Fresh pics of my 'new' CBRF1...

It was a lovely evening for outdoor grillage so while the burgers were cooking I snapped a couple shots of the new ride. They are a little fuzzy but not too bad. I need to take the fairings off and get to the chain tensioner and also there is a bit of a ticking noise when the bike is idling. If I give it some throttle it goes away. Am I correct in assuming this is most likely the timing chain issue?

Yeah, most likely it is your CCT that is making the noise. APE makes a lovely manual unit that will replace it. I'd lose all those aftermarket stickers, they take away from the beauty of the bike in a way.

I figured it was most likely the CCT. I want to shed the plastic and get inside this bike anyway. I will install a manual piece this winter. I also need to check the carbs. The bike starts and idles fine but I'd like the revs to drop a little faster and am hoping a bit of carb tuning will get the job done.

The stickers have to stay for now. I promised my wife I'd leave them on for at least one season. It really doesn't matter since she will be taking the bike from me anyway. When I brought it home the first thing she said was, "You bought me a track bike!!"

Figures.

Nice bike...too bad all that fine plastic is going to be sacrificed to the track.

I will install aftermarket race bodywork for the track. No way am I sacrificing that stock plastic because between the two of us that bike is going to probably slide on its face somewhere.

The stickers were on it when I picked her up. I haven't modified the bike at all. As a matter of fact, I don't even know how to get the seat/plastic off yet. It's been in the garage only a couple days already.

Very nice bike! Great condition.

You have to take the side tail pieces off first, then the small piece above the tail light. The bolts for the seat are behind the side plastics, so you can take the seat off then.
