Default Frame

Hello,

When was the first Honda CBR 600F with aluminium frame built? I was wondering about buying a 92 modell, but the owner said it had a steel frame. Anyone know the weight difference between one with steel frame, and one with aluminium?

Whats the best way to remove husky (rust) from the steel frame?

Well, thisboardis specific to CBR600F(1) 87-90.

A92 model would be a CBR600F2. They are all part of the F series. I am unaware of the years they may or may have not made aluminum frames, but I can pretty much guarantee if they had an aluminum frame on the F1, they would not have gone to steel in the F2. My guess is that the 92 does in fact have an aluminum frame, and the owner doesnt know what he is talking about, but then again, I dont know for sure so yeah.

nope, f4 was first aluminum frame.

i don't know if comparing a steel frame and aluminum frame by weight is a good comparison. very different design and application.

as for the rust, where is it located and how much work do you want to put into removing it? you could use small wire brush for those hard to reach areas or flap disc up to completely stripping the bike and sand blasting it and then paint, anodize, etc.
