F2 or F3 carbs on an F1

I don't know of anyone who has done this, and although I'm sure it's possible you would probably need the entire carb assembly from the newer engine plus customizing to make it fit. On top of that there really wouldn't be much of a power increase if any at all from doing it.
Have you torn your F1 carbs down & inspected them yet? I ask because most of the rebuild parts are still available for them and it would be less expensive & easier to rebuild what you have if possible. If you're concerned about HP the stock carbs are not going to limit your ability to make more..

Yes I am finishing rebuilding the original carbs right now. I also ordered another rack from an 88 off Ebay.
I'm new to this forum and CBR's but have lot's of experience with motorcycles, ATV's, small engines and cars.
Not necessarily looking for a power gain by changing to new style carbs, but more parts availability. I've searched all over the net and parts for the F1's are hard to find. The wear parts in the carbs would have to be bought through Honda which is expensive. Will see if I can come up with one good set from the two I will have.
I have quite a bit of experience with the newer carbs. So far the F1's aren't that much different.
From what I can find, the F2 and F3 carbs are spaced differently. This could be a problem if correct. Don't have a problem modifying as I have a machine shop, but most concerned about linkages and fuel and air feed tubes, which would require major fab work if the stack width is different and may not be worth the time (buying new parts for the F1 carbs would be cheaper).
This may be why I haven't gotten many responses because they just won't fit.
I just thought someone must have tried this and could tell me what they found.
Thanks for the response.

Could be that people are saying if your going to spend the time change it to FI...although not sure how it would work with the older electronics on an F1.

Look up the micro squirt system. That's what I was looking into. Looks like a pretty simple system. Cost about $600-$800 to do a conversion from what I priced out
