Default F1 parts interchangeability?

Hey all,

Can anyone confirm if 1987-1989 CBR1000 parts, particularly front/rear wheel fenders and tail pieces, are interchangeable with the 1987-1989 CBR600?

I'm having some problems locating some parts for my 600 Hurricane and have located some 1000F1 parts. My bike currently is without plastics of any kind, and I've got a significant amount of exposed wiring and such. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

That said, if anyone's unloading body plastics or has some alternative solutions (later gen front cowl attachments) would be also appreciated. I remember seeing one guy that had a later model 600 (RR, I believe) cowling zip-tied to his front stay, but I cant confirm any info I'm finding.

Thanks!

Not the same. The bike is bigger. Fairing won't fit either.

Oh great, well that solves that I suppose. Thanks!

I take it then that other pieces from newer generations won't fit either, like a tail piece? A mechanic I recently used said that up to 1997 is bolt on for tail pieces. I couldn't find any other info on that, so I haven't bought anything. Parts are scarce as it is, so I was looking at alternative ideas. I bought this bike for a song and it runs amazingly, but looks pretty rough so I'm looking for cost effective ways to improve her.

Nothing is bolt on except for original fairings which are hard to come by. Whomever told you that others bolt up is wrong. You can modify mountings for other fairings but it takes a lot of work. Search for my thread on 1987 Hurricane to 2003 RR conversion on here. I'd give you the link but on my IPad and not sure how to do it. Also threads on fairing repair for old broken ones. I repair parts I find on EBay because they are rare and hard to find. Also expensive when you do find them.

Thanks again man. Looks like I'll be going the streetfighter route then. Totally fine with that. Found some aftermarket fairings, but they're about the cost that I paid for the bike.
