Default Easy power mods?

Hi guys! It seems that just about every bike you buy has a set of "forum mods" that go with it, easy power up mods basically. I'm struggling to find any for the Hurricane? Are there any? Or is it just a case of DIY?

There's not a huge market for performance upgrades for these bikes, but there are some parts available. Smaller front & bigger rear sprocket will help with acceleration. Factory Pro offers jet kits and an ignition advance sprocket. K&N or Uni air filter and a performance exhaust will help make a bit of power.

Also make sure your carbs are tuned and synced properly, and all the maintenance service has been done to the engine to start with.

Seems strange to need to buy an ignition advancer? Normally if they aren't adjustable you file out the holes until they are? How have people gotten on with ign advancers?

Here's the link.. don't think you can modify the stock one without welding the trigger points bigger and then grinding them back down.

CBR600, hurricane, jet, carb, tune, tuning, Data by EC997a Eddy Current Dynamometer

I haven't had a chance to install one yet, but the +6 degree is claimed to add a pretty decent amount of power.

Default Mods

I don't think theres power adders just ways to make the bike more efficient and less power loss.

Newer lighter chains, and sprockets.. My mods are -1 in the front +2 in the back. ( i only ride city 14/45 ) 520 chain. Everything is well greased.

I did however think about the ingnition advancing maybe hook-up a megasquirt option?

All in all if its about numbers seems to be buy a bigger bike.

I looked at the ignition advance, done it on my dirt bike ages ago and that made a HUGE difference. But looking at the figures supplied by Factory Pro, 1.5bhp.... doesn't seem very worth it.

Air filter, exhaust, drilling the airbox, ignition advance, proper jet kit tuned & synched correctly will definitely make more power. 520 chain will make more usable power too.. it won't show up on a dyno but less rotating mass will definitely help acceleration.

As far as the megasquirt goes it's an EFI system so doesn't apply to a carbureted motorcycle.

I'm not sure the peak power increase really tells the whole story on that one, but I haven't installed it yet so I can't speak from personal experience. I have a feeling it would improve driveability and lower end power quite a bit but it will probably be a few more months before I get one to find out for sure.

I dunno if it affects every bike this little... but after 13 bikes in 8 years... I think perhaps when I start craving more I will just buy something bigger (hopefully a newer CBR) and keep this one as the winter hack !
