Default Conventional Vs. Synthetics

I am running a 10W-40 Repsol's conventioanl oil which I think is mineral based and has all of the oil certs. to be run motorcycles and certain makes. I am just curious of everyone's opinion regarding synthetics and if it is really worth the cost involved when you compare it with a conventional oil. I am planning on switching it out very soon and the only reason I ran it is because I had just got the bike and it hadn't been running for a few years so I thought I would cycle it through before I put in some synthetic and also because I was on a budget after purchasing the bike. Am I at any harm if I run the engine in high revs(not redline), or if I run the bike in any other normal way that most would? I have 16,000 miles in the engine right now. Any input would be appreciated!

i have over 90,000 miles on my engine. i use semi synthetic 10-40. it is what i've used the most unless full syn happened to be on sale. other than that i change my oil every 3000 miles. no problems running the bike hard through the canyons or commuting to work day in day out.

Your clutch will like you better if you use conventional oil without wear guard or any other friction reducing additives.

Your clutch wont care if you aren't clutching wheelies or drag racing.

So your opinion is that you don't have an opinion... that is a very zen approach to advice!

Ha! You must be as old as me.... I bought my '88 used ( 1600 miles ) in 1989 when I was but a lad.
My clutch and engine are still original with approx. 35,000 miles on them... all done with conventional oil.

Yup...been around the block a couple of times. The Hurricane was the first brand new bike I bought. I had to switch to a bike with some cornering clearance so I would live this long. I had a yamaha virago 750, an rd350lc , a sportster and a lowrider before i mand ethe hop to fine japanese sport equipment.
