confused
ok i just bought this bike and i have gotten it running its a 87 cbr 600 and i got it started with starting fluid on Saturday. Well yesterday when i hooked everything back up with the gas tank it fired up but what I'm not understanding is the plug wires are in the order of 1234 from left to right when sitting on the bike. It starts but there is a ticking noise coming from the engine and it didn't make this noise Saturday when i was using the starting fluid but when i read the service manual i downloaded the on off of here it says the firing order is 1243 but when i put the plug wires in the 1243 order it will just back fire and not start. I already know i need to get a fuel pump for it due to i have it set up as gravity fed now just to test some stuff out. The fuel pump will be put on when i get it.can some one please help me out with this.
on mine the left coil (as you sit on bike) 1st is to cylinder 1 2nd is to cylinder 4 and the right coil is 1st to cylinder 2 and other to cylinder 3 and the ticking noise in mine was the cct didn't do it at first maybe cos was stood for a while but after i ran bike for a bit it then started
The left coil fires 2-3 the right coil fires 1-4.
The rattle noise may be the CCT.
If it sounds like bb's in a can and changes with throttle/rpm,
that's the most likely cause.
Hope this helps, Ern

OK so sitting on the bike from left to right is the order that the wires go to the coils correct ? and what is the CCT? I'm semi what new to working on bikes sorry and im trying to fix the mess ups of the last person that worked on it lol. and i also had another question just to confirm and that is if i get the tubing going from the gas tank to the fuel filter from the fuel filter to the fuel pump and from the fuel pump the the carbs off of a 1990 cbr will it work for my 87? and thanks for the input and help
About the CCT, you can't really test it unless you have a working one. The Honda automatic CCT is notorious for failing though. You might as well buy the Manual CCT off EBAY and save yourself some trouble. install is easy, two bolts off, remove, replace, then two bolts on

it's actually the other way around. Left coil fires 1, and 4 while right coil fires 2, and 3
I've heard that Honda changed the diameter of the carbs for the year 1990, the diameter of the carbs might be bigger than the intake on the bike.

Those hoses look like they will work to hook up the electric pump. I don't think you will need the hose and tee its hooked to in the upper right corner of the pic though. My 87 doesn't have that.
