Default compatible fuel pump

I have a 89 600F with a bad fuel pump. Can anyone tell me it the fuel pumps from a f2 or f3 are the same? They appear to be but i'm not sure.

I'm not sure either, but if the inlet/outlet's are the same, it has the same psiand it works on 12 volts, you can easily make it work.

OLDbutFAST,

When you find out, please post you findings here as I have an 89 but my pump is ok ... (for now). It could prove to be usefull information for others or if my pump goes on the fritz!

Thanks
Bill

I have been using a pump from a F3 for the past 2 years with no problems. I can't remember what year, either 95 or 98. The only thingis the wiring which was shorter on the newer pump.

As ras just said, I found out a F3 pump will work if you make the wires on the pump longer

I can't remember what car it was from...but I ran a fuel pump for five years from some little rice burner car. I just took the pump in and matched it up for size at the autozone. You just need a pump with a auto-shut off for line pressure of about 6psi. Double check the line pressure stat with someone who has a factory manual. Accel fuel pumps are available at O'reilly for about $30. It is a different shape but still small. I just got one for my 1982 Bronco. ( Cheap = good! )
