carbs jetting, is it hard to do??
Hey guys I was wondering if it's hard to instal a jet kit myself. I'd like to try to save money and try to do it myself cuz I'm short on budget right now.
Any advice is welcomed
Thanks.

Do you have any mechanical experience at all?
If so, then not hard provided you have decent basic tools.
If not, then you might want to reconsider or get some help from someone with experience.
I did mine with little mechanical experience but under the supervision of a motorcycle shop tech.
Hope this helps. Good luck.

Anyone have a picture of the jet kit. I took my bike apart to do some repairs and cleaning and there was something that could have been a jet kit in into my carb. It was hooked up to my fuel line and was on some sort of primer. Not sure if it's supposed to be there or not.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Jets are fuel circuits inside the carbs. Jet kits contain different sized circuits and jet needles with slots in them. Stock needle has 1 slot and is not adjustable.
Putting in jets is not hard, just takes time and patience, and a few simple tools. Tuning one is VERY tedious. It is not something you can just put in and go. Your engine is very particular about the fuel:air ratio it receives and altering that usually does more harm than good unless you put a lot of time and effort into it.
Believe me from experience, if you want this thing to work right, you will be taking apart your carbs and probably 4 or 5 times, maybe more if you are not good at guessing what the problem is. Kits may come with a guess on which jets and settings you should use but they are always wrong because every exhaust is different.
If you love bikes and want to learn the ins and outs of the mechanical stuff, and have the patience, then go for it. If you need help, feel free to shoot me a PM. Otherwise get a shop to do it (even they will probably screw it up though lol)

Yea i agree most shops will just install it with the manufacturers recommended settings and send you on your way, youll notice a gain but it wont be to the bikes full potential. The Factory Pro jet kits come with SPECIFIC Step by Step tuning instructions which require you to take your carbs out AT least 15 times. As you have to test each main jet first before installing the needle jet, then the needle jet before adjusting float height, ect ect. But anyways, samw if you have any problems installing the jet kit, you can shoot me an email as well, I have had my carbs out so many times i can do it in 5 minutes now. (Great for when you need to adjust for temperature at the track)
