Carb reassembly ?'s with vid : slide action/sound n diaphragm replacing tips?
hey guys
am reassembling the carbs and just want your thoughts on how the first two are sounding and if the action of the slide looks okay. there's a distinctive thump as they reach the bottom of the venturi and was wondering if this should be smoother?
Also do you have a good way of making the diaphragm sealing edge sit in its recess before replacing the spring and cover?
If you can bear it, I did a quick vid: sorry for the slow faltering waffley talk
Thanks dudes

The second diaphram you actuated sounds good. The first one seems to be a bit sticky coming down. Try swapping 2 of the diaphrams, see if that sorts it. I'd keep track of your swaps tho. IDEALLY you want to keep all the bits matched up.
As for the diaphragms fitting, they should seat on their own. On my old ninja, they never did, I just had to be really careful not to pinch the rubber. I have heard of people sticking their diaphragms in the freezer for an hour before installing them. Makes the rubber a bit smaller and it holds it shape a bit better. Never tried it myself though. Can't hurt...

I think both diaphragms are sliding fine. I just rebuilt mine, and they were (all 4) just like that.
When reassembling, you can push the flange down so the diaphragm looks more like a mushroom as opposed to a funnel, and the rim will sit nicely in the channel until you install the spring. It's a bit tricky to get everything together, but it looks like you are doing fine.

thanks corruptfile and zombierhino I'm on to the fourth carb now and am pretty happy with how the others are working after using your tips. I noticed also that the spring will make itself heard if not seated in the diaphragm cover properly - gives a springy twang when the slide is actuated.
Thanks again my friends
