Default Brake/Clutch levers

Hi guys, I'm a new member, bought my 1988 CBR600 about a month and a half ago.

She's a fantastic bike, custom paint job from a Honda dealership back in the day.

Anyway, some idiot parked their car into her and smashed her up a little.

I am looking for red brake/clutch levers on a budget - I don't want to buy Chinese but I pretty much have to. I can find either:

Every colour except red designed specifically for the 1988, or
Every model CBR600F except the 1988 in any colour including red.

So looking at these levers online I keep finding some that aren't bike specific; they will fit any cbr600f be that my year or up to the f4i.

Can I get F2 levers for my F1?

Thanks all!

Paddy

I've been fishing around as much as possible and it seems like half of the sellers accept it to be the same as the F2 and half don't.

Looking at images of both stock brake levers they seem identical.

Is it not the case that a brake/clutch lever is just a brake/clutch lever?

It shouldn't be so complicated!

Cheers,

Paddy

You should be fine with a set of F2 levers. I bought some from Ebay a few years ago for my bike, and I believe they were advertised to fit at least the F1-F3 if not newer also. As far as I know the mounting is the same on the earlier 600 bikes.

Here's what she looked like when I bought her. Quite a unique paintjob!

Basically since then I have had three morons back into her, knocking her down. The paintwork is scratched to hell and the bar ends, brake lever, right footpeg and handlebar all got broken.

I'm now changing her - using a 'Plastidip' style paint so I can keep the old job underneath.

I will post a picture once she's finished

Nice lookin bike. Sucks about being knocked down - but maybe it is where you park it?! And yes, the F2-F4(i?) levers work, that's what I ordered for mine.

Did you catch the people that knocked your bike over and collect insurance money? It's hard to keep anything nice with all those jerk offs out there.

Basically the first guy who did it was a white van man, caught on cctv but the police wouldn't even look at the footage so he got away with it.

The second time was my downstairs neighbour backing in to it with his truck, very apologetic and would pay for any damage - but no further damage was done to the bike than from the first time.

The third time was on the same bloody day as the second! An idiot woman with her kids in the back went to pull out of the space, a car was coming so she slammed it into reverse and smashed the poor thing really hard. Imagine if it was a child or something?!

It isn't parked where the pictures are taken, it's on a road. I don't want it to be but I have no garden or driveway or anything. I'm just a student in Portsmouth. I barely have the money to run the bike haha.

The last woman owned up to the incident and gave me the money to repair the bike. Neither of us wanted to go through insurance!
