Default Biggest tire for 87 cane 600

I justed joined the forum and it seems like a great place. I have an 87 cane 600 fighter. I need a new tire this summer. I have a new michelan pilot in the front so i was looking to do the same in the rear. Correct me if im wrong but i think the stock is a 130/80-17. I would like to go bigger because i hate the look of the skinny tire. Can i go bigger than a 140/80-17. Also i dont realy understand the difference in the second number on tires.
Thanks, i appreciate all the help

The second number is the ratio of the sidewall height and the width. A 140-80-17 is taller than a 130-80-17.
I am thinking about a 140-70-17 for mine, or a 150-70-17.
Dennis Kirk shows the actual dimensions of the tires on their site.

If you look right above your post at the top post that says" tyre sizes", the subject has been discussed ad nauseam. See my signature for my tire sizes. They work well for me.

What do you think the biggest size i can go is with a Michelan pilot with out mods? I dont want it to be rubbing and my lady rides on the back to bike night and laconia.
