Default Battery question

My battery has been crap for the last couple months. I bought a brand new one a few weeks ago. Just havent put it in yet. My question is the new battery was charged overnight when i bought it. My bike is sitting home dead since it wouldnt crank over when i was coming back from lunch. I get maybe 1 good cranking push of the starter button. If it doesnt fire, then it wont have enough juice. I want to put my new battery in after work. I dont have a charger to put it on in town. Can i put the new battery in the bike and push start it? Will that charge the battery up enough riding around for a while? It might still have a charge. It went straight from the charger at the shop to my closet at home. It was bad weather to install it, and i just got the bike back from the shop yesterday getting my CCT installed. Any info would be nice. I had to push start it this morning.

Thanks
Paul

If you just charged it yesterday there will be plenty left in it........ride it at speed (not in town low RPM riding) for an hour or so and it'll be fine.
I have yet to have to change a battery in any of my bikes so.........I dont understand why they go bad, maybe I just have good luck.

But low RPM riding wont charge your bike, nor will idling in the garage, you actually have to make it work in order to charge it.

It hasnt been charged for 3 weeks. The new one that is. The battery in the bike wont hold a charge. We charged it for about 6 hours on the charger, and it still only cranks one or 2 times. As long as it fires up first push, then it is fine. But on cold mornings like this morning my bike takes a couple starts to stay runnning. So the battery dies on me. Then i gotta push start. Thanks for your reply.

I hope so. I wouldnt think it would go dead sitting. I know it will over time. I just wasnt sure how long it takes. I just got the bike back last night, and am wanting to ride. Going to be nice all weekend. So i hope this works. If not i will just have to push start it and ride it to my dads outa town and throw it on the charger for a few hours. Thanks again for your help.

It should start it........if not, and you give it a bump start then ride an hour or so....it'll charge enough to be fine.

Thanks again for your help. Worked perfectly. The new battery was still charged. Much more cranking power. I couldnt believe the difference. Specially in the lights. Much brighter now. Thanks again.
