airbox mod
Would removing the airbox lid help increase airflow with the fairings still attached? Im running a stage 2 jet kit and already had the silencers removed. Thought maybe if the lid was removed then top end power would increase.
I have done extensive testing on the F1 in regards to air box configurations.
you need the lid to hold the filter in place.
you stated you will be keeping the fairing, so you best bet will be to drill multiple 1 inch holes on the air box lid to increase air flow.
keepthe air box snorkels, and keep the air box lid.
after you bore the holes place a peice of open cell foam rubber at the front of the air box.
make the foam big enough to go from side to side to fitbetween the frame rails
and between the bottom of the fuel tank to the top of the snorkels.
when mounting the tank you want to compress the foam between the tank and the snorkel top, but don't cover the airbox holes.
this will stop forced air at speed from swirling the air going into the top of the airbox.
if you don't the motor will loose power at high speed, the bike still runs but not as well without the airdamn.
if you need help PM me.

Sounds like you have done it all in regards to the airbox. Today I did a test run without the airbox lid. Basically, the motor didn't like having an open lid. It basically bogged the motor down when I hit the throttle. Midrange definitly bogged w/o the lid. I reinstalled the lid and man does it feel better.
