Default airbox help

I have a 95 CBR900rr. My bike runs great to start with. I have had the bike a couple months now and took off the airbox. When looking at the box, the carb vent tube is not hooked up to the airbox. In fact, it is capped off on the box.
When I hooked it up, the bike ran sloooow and studdered.
So I capped it off again an just let the carg tube hang. Then it ran fine again. Can anyone tell me what the f#ck is up.
If this helps, it has a 4 degree advance, kerker exhaust and k@n filter. Don't know if the thing is jetted.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If its not jetted capping the tube makes it run richer and in your case, run right. Hooking it back up makes it run too lean. Lean = bad.

So if I got it jetted, all that stuff would be hooked up properly, and the bike would prob run a whole lot stronger, right? What kinda extra performance can I expect from that mod with the stuff I have, Kerker exhaust, 4 degree advance and a k@n.
Any ideas?
