Ok, the $180 I was quoted was me taking the bike in, so that seems reasonable.

Keep me updated on your progress with the plastic upgrade. I am very interested in changing the tail on my bike.

Actually it was a pain. I used the stock fairing stay, but i cut off the guage mounts and the windscreen brackets, the guages wouldn't fit under the plastics the way i wanted them to. I bent up some aluminum for new upper brackets, and for the lower i used the old mount holes with brackets that run to the back of the race lower to hold it back from hitting the wheel. Its hard to explain, i'll get some pics up soon when the plastic is back from paint and on its way back together. I warn you, the brackets are not the prettiest, but you'll never see them.) You know, i thought if i bought a new bike i'd lose interest in my cane, but i find myself working on it almost everyday.

hrm, sounds fun. i want to get my fronts swapped out as well, but dont really feel like doing too much work on it. if i can do it without unsightly gaps i will. keep us updated.
