Bike is torn down for prep and paint. Not much to show right now.

Ordered new tires...Pirelli Sport Demons.

Can't wait to see this all together painted.

***UPDATE***

Custom Bodywork

Working on the prep for paint and I decided that I didn't like the large gap on the right side lower fairing by the brake pedal. Most people that do this conversion cut off the lower fairings and this is not as big of a problem, but as some of you know, I wanted to keep the lowers full length. So I decided to do a little custom bodywork to close off this area.

Here is the lower fairing roughly in place. I will need to fabricate a bracket that ties to the Hurricane lower fairing engine mounts to hold this in the proper position and support the additional bodywork, so this picture isn't exactly where it will sit.

Here's a composite picture that shows the old gap and the new bodywork that closes this off.

I think it looks much better with the filler panel.

Still waiting for weather to improve so I can paint in my barn. I have most of the parts ready for paint, but other projects have taken my time. I have a bunch of new parts for the RR, including Progressive shock, Vance and Hines exhaust, new tires, chain and a few other odds and ends. I will be going through all mechanicals as I put it back together once the frame and swing arm are back from powder coat.

I plan on updating here as I put it back together. This should be a very nice bike when I get done. Have a lot more into it than I planned, but want to do it right so what the heck.

Looking good! I was curious how this was coming along for you. If I could figure out my engine problems I might be inclined to finish the front of mine. I've had like $500 in parts sitting in my garage for about 4 years now.

You should be able to get that bike going...or just buy another one. I picked up 3 more CBR Hurricanes for a total of $700 including this complete one:

Also been tied up on the other three bikes I picked up:

Out of motorcycles for over 30 years and now I have seven bikes...kind of crazy

Nice! Mine runs, just not very well. I already dropped a *new* motor in it a few years ago. I'm just not as good with engines as I am electronics, but I'm learning.

great work dennisgb, very nice your huRRicane!!!

I have one too, and I allready save your tutorial in my computer because I will try make the convertion this year. In Uk ebay I can buy all fairing with nice offers (tail light + windshield + sticker + seat cowl) about 350USD because I don't need the tank cover and front fender.

Thank you for your time make this "photo tutorial".

One question, you can't drive a passenger because you don't use steel or other strong material that support the weight of one person right?

PS: sorry for some mistakes in my english

Thanks for the positive comments. I can't wait to get it all painted and back together.

The sub-frame structure I fabricated is as strong if not stronger than original, it can take the weight of a passenger. The passenger pillion is tied to the subframe, not the tail. Look closer at the pictures...it's very strong.

you will paint on this summer?

why I don't live in US!!!?

Spares in Portugal on Honda dealer are expensive and in ronayers.com some pieces are very cheap.
Ronayers.com Microfiche Honda>Motorcycle>1988>CBR600F>FUEL TANK

for example piece num5 in this site cost $38.85 in Portugal cost $112. Shipping to Portugal from this store is $35, probably I will see another spares that I need to buy at once.

Not sure what you mean. I paint in my barn, have shop on back end with paint booth. Waiting for temps to warm up. Next year it will be heated so I can work all year. Very cold here in the winter.

Honda OEM spares are expensive in the US also and most of the parts on that sheet are no longer available here.
