1987 Hurricane to 2003 CBR600RR Conversion
Hey Dennis, how's the back? Just posting a little update. Played hookie yesterday and got the upper fairing vinyl wrapped and mounted. Electrical is all done. Last bit to complete will be getting some wire mesh into the mid fairing vents and getting the mids and lowers mounted.

Hi Doc,
The back is improving. Still hard to bend much. The bike is inside so I can work on it when I feel up to it. Been buying parts for it and the Norton preparing for when I can start working again. Also getting shop space prepared. Haven't posted here because nothing to report. Your bike looks awesome.

Hi denisgb, sins you are a veteran in converting canes i got a question for you. I recently got the mad idea of converting my cane in a cbr 400 rr sins i got my hands on a fearing. what are your touts on that?
Hi Emmanuel,
How's the weather in Norway? It's cold and snowy here in Minnesota. Us motorcycle guys hate that.
I'm not completely clear on your question. Are you looking at converting a CBR600 to the 400RR plastics?
We don't have the 400RR here in the USA but I have looked at the fairings and I think they might work...and you can buy new ones aftermarket which is kind of cool. I think that might be what you are thinking.
I would do a little research on the 400 to determine if there is a size difference if there is any. If you can go to a dealer or know someone that has one you could measure it and see.

I don't think i can find any dealers that have a 400 tho my friend has a gsxr 400 r.
It is just starting to snow in Halden (the town where i'm at) and ye hate every second of it. I feel PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) kicking inn and its a bitch. Back to the mater on hand, yes i am talking about a plastic conversion. To bad you don't have the 400 in the US, 400dreds are in my opinion the best bikes to start on and also a cheep track bike alternative. I think its a shame they don't make more 250 and 400 inline 4 cylinder bikes.

Yes I did some research on the 250 and 400 inline fours a while ago. They are really awesome bikes especially the high reving 250. I think Honda made a mistake not importing them to the USA but they thought the American market would think them too small.
I looked at some pictures and the 400RR looks to be close in size to the 600. At one time I thought I read that the engine was a detuned 600 but don't quote me on that. I really think it may be possible to do this conversion.

Things are still a little slow around here. Have been working a little on the conversion bike. Trying to figure out the front fender. I modified the RR fender before I painted it, but just can't get it mounted so it looks right. A bit of a setback. So I cut the original fender way down so it only mounts to the top bolts. Tried to get it to look more "modern". Am doing the paintwork.
Also working through the exhaust mounts.
With the holidays it's been a little slow, but hope to get some time next week to work on it.
Hope everyone had a great holiday and a happy new year.

Haven't been riding mine as much as I would like due to a minor knee injury that hurts like heck when I lift my leg up on the peg. Your mention of converting a modular home into a shop got me thinking about the empty house across the street that my mom used to live in. I have been wanting to do a serious photo shoot of the finished project. Today I collected my studio gear and spent the afternoon getting my bike in thru the back door, cleaned up and maneuvered into the living room for a photo session away from the high 20 degree temps outside today. May try a shot or two tonight and plan to do more tomorrow. If I pull off any good shots I will post them.
