Default 1987 Honda CBR 600F Hurricane

Hi, I am a new rider and just purchased a used 1987 Honda Cbr 600 Hurricane. It seems to run pretty good. I have the manual from the owner and did extensive reading. My problem is the clutch handle is way too tight to press, which makes it harder to shift gears.

Question:

How can I loosen the clutch to make it easier to press?

Much appreciated,

Putting in softer springs will fix that, however, it may cause the cluth to slip if they are too light.

i think that you should be able to lube the cable, as it may be hung up or sticking due to age.

check in the manual it will tell you how and what to use.

does clutch lever feel tight when you pull it back? check lever pinch bolt screw. maybe excessively tightened.

if not lever, pull back rubber boot just after lever. there should be a barrel adjuster underneath. adjust clutch cable either by loosening or tightening cable slack. i'd say loosen cable in quarter turn increments till you feel what you need.

if the cable feels like it is binding, take a spray can of wd40 or lithium lube, use straw to direct spray into slot of barrel adjuster and pump the cable housing full of lube. put cloth at other end of cable and see what comes out. maybe just dirty and needs lube and cleaning.
