Default New Regulator

Anyone have any good recommendations (UK) for the purchase of a new regulator.

Went for a run today (battery fully charged - Optimate charger)) and after 120miles (riding with lights on) I stopped. Tried to start it and starter would not work (Not enough power in battery).
Managed to bump start the bike and all seemed fine. However on the return journey, I noticed the Speedo and Tacho needles started to fluctuate every time I braked.
Eventually they stopped working but I had to get home so I continued.
Next the indicators would barley work and the engine nearly cut out whilst turning across a a main road.
Next, the engine started to cut out every time I used the brakes or any electrical item (Final bit of charge in battery was fading)
Eventually I had to be recovered, the battery was almost completely flat, but more importantly the battery was not recharging. A quick 5 min boost charge had the speedo/tacho working again for a short period but again the problem reappeared.
I am guessing the regulator is the most likely culprit (unless anyone else has had this problem and knows of an alternative cause)
The battery is a possibility, but if it recharges ok on the Optimate tonight and continues to do short runs ok then I will need a new regulator

I enclosed all the detail, because it may help someone in the future and there has been a previous post about problems with a "flickering/variable speedo"

Any replies gladly accepted

Many thanks

In the UK I would go to JAWS blackbird specialists

Has all you would ever need for your BB

Hi Dean0, thanks for the pointer,

I Found another good supplier, have used them in the past and forgot all about them until I was going through some old stuff in my garage.
Dave Silver, excellent service and even better prices. £85 for a "genuine" replacement. They don't come in Honda boxes, but are supposedly are made and supplied by the people who make them for Honda.
Fitted and working so time will tell how good

Electrical parts from Honda have no guarantee.
I used www.electrex.co.uk
guarantee for 12 months and top class product - superior to the standard unit in every respect, heat dissipation and charge rate, and the same price or cheaper than the Honda part.
FWIW

OEM Honda RR's are known for early retirement - the aftermarket ones from JAWS are better quality and finned for better cooling

The one I got looked nothing like the original (Flat with epoxy coating)

The replacement is more substantial, has a finned body and maintains regulated voltage (Across battery terminals) at around 14.4Volts irrespective of the revs.

Have heard a few stories about poor quality (OEM) replacements, either burning out or cooking the battery, but so far so good

Thanks for the info
