Default Need Advice

Irecently bought a'02 blackbird and had been riding for about a month. My hands are always numb after riding for just 10 to 15mins, particularythe right side. Also, the engine sounded like knocking when itidleat 1000RPM.

Is there a problem with my posture and the engine, is it normal?

Try to relax on the handle bars and support bodyweight with the knees, stommac and back, and dont grab the bars hard.

In csse the knocking at idle goes away when you pull in the clutch it is normal and no reason to worry.

Yup, did wat you menitoned and it really ease alot on my hands but the back feels a little stiff though.

There's not much of the knocking when I pulled in the clutch.

Thanks for the advice bro.

I've got a 2001 'bird and suffer as well. I've noticed it's worse in the morning especially when it's cold, but maybe that's my age!? Also, winter gloves make it worse, maybe 'cos they're tighter. Finally, replacement bar ends tend to be lighter than the originals and don't dampen the vibrations as much. Never seem to suffer so much on the way home from work though! If I get the numbies, I just open and close my hand till it goes, it's not much of a price to pay for riding such an awesome machine, and the cbf I owned previously was twice as bad!!!![8D]

There are some who recommend to change into VFR bars or gemar risers, it will improve the riding posture. For VFR bars it raises 1.75 inch up and 1 inch inward, therefore creating a more upright riding position. Looks stock also...

May want to try it.......

I'm using VFR bars in my Bird and perfectlyis happy with them. They are more comfortable than the stock bars but you will grab more wind in morethe upright position. This is not a problem though other than for very high speeds and then you can just lean more forward. At verylow speeds the raised bars makes the bike a loteasier to manuovre. I was cheap and bought a pair of pre-Vtech bars. They are 41 mm insideinstead of 43 mm as on the bird, but I just grinded them up to 43 mm and they work fine.

Wallaby, what sort of front tyre are you running I found the tyre that came on my new bird was terrible it had the shakes when I backed off and wasnt great ina corner seemed to want to drift, so I replaced mine with batlax BT 021 fornt and back and my problem went away no more shake or wobble. The tyres I took of were BT 57's
