I like my endo's, but the abs should not kick in unless the tire is skidding right? so would not affect them. My only concern really is the weight, something like 22lbs for the abs system, OUCH.

I'm not sure how it would react. The wheels would have speed sensors.. If one is spinning faster than the other when the brakes are applied... I think it will kick in and out. But they might have an off switch too.

I dont care for the fly by wire. I dont see any benifit from it at all. How does a cable weigh? not much.. how much does the fly by wire weigh? more than the cable.

I worked in Research and Development for a similar control. It was for a car, but it was basically fly by wire. We had so many problems with them. They will never be as fast as a cable. there will always be a delay in response. It may not be much, and you might get used to it, but there will be some delay. There were certain benifits on the car, but I don't see any for bike.

The thing I don't like is this. We buy bare bones high horsepower machines because they are fun.. You can interact and become one with the machine. If the machine does more and more for you..... where does that leave the driving experience?

I guess I'm old school in a sense. I like fuel injection, radial mounted brakes, light weight bikes..ect. But, the more you disconnect the rider from the bike, the riding experience is going to suffer. I like the fact that it takes a certain skill to ride these bikes. Making these bikes so tame that anyone can ride them... takes something away from them.

Well, I think I am starting to see why those old geizers on the mid 60's bikes think their bikes are the best.. I can see myself in the same situation 20 years from now....lol

Personally, I hate ABS on anything. I think its for people with zero coordination skills. I hate that everytime I'm applying the brake and hit a tall seam in the road or a slick man hole cover that the ABS system kicks in and semi-releases my brakes.... then I have to re-apply the brakes harder because I basically free-wheeled for a few yards. I cant believe people arent griping about this on cars. I've almost hit people in the rear because of this free wheeling action it does. I would not have it on a bike, it has sucked on every car and truck I've had.....

Just my opinion!

Rod

First time with ABS was with BMW GS 1150 i was impress from the brakes i keep this bike for 4 month's and my life change about the way of braking. After a lot of changes(9 bikes in a year) i realize that after the expirience with BMW i lost my trust to my self in braking and this becouse i was afraid that i will lock the front whelle .....
In my job( i was personal escort with motorbike in a buissnesman) i had an BMW K 1200 S so one day at the time of my job i brake to stop in a central cross road and the F@cken central unit of ABS stop to work i pass the VIP car and i stop about 2 metters in front of him at the main time a truck pass 20 cm in front of my bike and then i realize that i was safe by the luck 20 cm more(few inches) and then the paradise(i hope) waiting.

After this i start to practice more in braking now after a hundred edo's i feel better.

But a lot of times i ask my self what is better for daily use trust your self and continue practice or follow the techology.........

depends on the year and manufacturer. for example, early GM versus current BMW. whoa, big difference!
i changed my tune recently; had my first crash. bumpy road, had to brake suddently, didn't know my wheel was locked because the 08 cbr1000 tire does not squeal when locked! abs would have saved me $ and pain.

i think the ABS could be a good thing especially to someone caught in the rain. obviously in the ideal situation you would never need ABS but the system isnt designed for ideal, it is designed for when you are in desperate need.

im in favor of things that can save my life and i think this is one of them. my next bike is a GoldWing and i will be getting one with the ABS option.
