Default valve adjustment?

ok, well it's about 7,580miles on my 06 CBR1000RR - you think it's time to get a valve adjustment on the bike? or kind-of hold it off a bit?

it's $75/hr up in idaho where las vegas is $125 an hour (and i'm taking it back down to vegas in september)

any kind of advice would do me good in this section because i didnt know i had to do a valve adjustment intill today when i took it to the dealership (looking at new CBR600's, THEY ARE SO SMALL!!) and then the dealer and me got to talking about my bike.

thank guys

The valve clearance does not need to be checked until 16K miles, consult your manual before the dealer rips you off mate.

yeah, it's 16k miles ^ like all other late model Honda 4's. Even then very rarely do they actually need shims or any adjustments.

AWWW - he was very sneaky.. well he was like "you hear that little tick tick tick tick sound?" yeah that's your vavle (he was pointing to the front passenger side of the gas tank) and i could actually hear the little buggers ticking a bit.. ok, well never had a brand new bike, so just making sure everything is doing ok - i'm starting to hear new noises but the chain is alittle loose it seems but that's about it..

the 1000rr is one of the noisest bikes on the market

it will be fine until the valve check in the manual, even then it probably wont need any work

The noise you hear will be the cam chain, there quite noisy on these bikes. Don`t worry about it unless its really really obvious. mine has 20k on the clock and no probs, no valve adjustments needed or cam chain probs. and I always give her a jolly good spanking every where i go.
She`s had a hard life any never once complained.

my bike has made a ticking noise similar to a valve tick since mile 1. i plan on taking it in toward the end of its warranty to have it "checked out".

Me too. I am bringing it in on Tuesday for its first service and I will ask them about it then. How many miles on your bike now?
By the way valves tap they don't tick as far as I know. At least all of the valves I have ever heard.
My noise is not from gas either I know what that sounds like in other vehicles anyway and I have used nothing but premium (91-93 octane) like the owners manual says (says 91).

You have obviously not ridden on a Kawasaki Concours or you wouldn't be saying that. My Concours sounds like ithas a diesel engine not a gas engine it is so freakin loud.
Even the stockexhaust is louder than onmy CBR1000RR. The cam chain adjuster was the culprit and I was told it would quiet after a few thousand miles and if it didn't you could knock it over a notch at the valve adjustments (Valve adjustments were every 6000 miles plus at 600 miles).

i am currnetly just under 1600 miles, still sounds the same, and i always run bp or shell premium. my old gsxr 1100 made a ton of noise too. my buddy and i took his valve cover off his gsxr 1100 at 30K and they were all still spot on, and the bike was ran hard.

STAY AWAY FROM BP FUEL. I would recommend using Sunoco 93 Octane. I think they may even have a 94 Octane.
