Default transporting bike

I am going to pick up my band new 06' CBR1000 in Long Island, NY this Wednesday. Thanks to those who told me about Champion Honda, you know who you are, for the great price. I am going to pick it up in the back of my truck and drive it about 3 hours back home.

I am looking for some ideas on how people tie down their bikes in the back of pick-up trucks (mine 02' Ford F-250 super duty).

I was thinking of compressing the front shocks as much as possible and then tieing down the front. I was also thinking of using the passenger footpegs as another tie down location.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

In my pickup (Mitsubishi L200) which has a smaller bed than yours i think, i put the bike across diagnally from right to left on its side stand. Then I use a bar strap across the bars and tie them down either side in the corners of the bed with a ratchet strap each. I do the same for the rear using the pillion pegs. Then put one big strap across from left to right over the seat/tank on the opposite diagnol to the bike. You may want to use a towel or something to protect your paintwork.
Do all the ratchets tight which will compress the suspension anyway, mine didn`t move or bounce at all. I think uping the compression damping on the forks and rear would help lessen the effect bouncing can have also. Mine where set pretty hard as it was for the track, Front compression at full in (hard) and rear set at 3 quarters of it adjustment to Hard.

Default RE: transporting bike

what i do is use handle bar ties to tie the front down in the rear i wrap a tie down in the middle of the rear tie top of course and tie the left down and the right down this keeps the bike firm moving side to side and the front handle bar tie downs keep it standing straight up. please keep in mind during the trip check the bars for tightness i hauled a 600 silverwing scooter for 200 miles and had to keep tighting the tie downs not realizing thst the handle bars were coming lose whne i got almost home i senn my problem the handle bars were down on the seat dumb ya .
