It really depends on what kind of riding you do...If your just going to put put around, it doesn't really matter, but if you want performance out in the streets, enjoying the twisties/track. A 600 is more than enough. Riding a 1000 up and down the backroads. Is alot of work and even on the track, but if your the type to get into the straight aways, and gun the literbike. You feel a whole lot of rush, that makes you grin a bit. Then this may be for you. Depends on alot of things, I love my 1000 in the streets and looking at getting the 07600 for the track. The gsxr1000 is a really nice bike and I have been seeing more and more of them on the track. Guess it feels right at home there. So, good luck its a hard choice for sure.

Which 1000 are you looking? I really like the 06gsxr1000, that babee pulls hard fast and very easy to flick around. It does power wheelies easily and its all stock. As for my 1000RR, Im loving, with no regrets. If you were looking at the new 07gsxr1000, that is more userfriendly than the 06, plus you can switch the engine maps, and I would be more than happy to keep the gsxrs stock. Doesn't need any mods really. You are right about everyone having a gsxr....like someone said, he wants to get rid of his gsxr because its almost squidish cuz its all over the place. The other plus to the gsxr is the extra seat cowl adjustable foot pegs. The Honda has a slight buz at 4500 rpm and can make your hands numb in the first week but after breaking it in, and getting use to it, it will go away. You will be more than happy with the 1000RR, its justthat itdoesnt do much to differentiate itself from the 600RR, so you got to know bikes to know the difference. So, a gsxr is probably ur best bet unless you get the new 081000RR. If you were to get an 071000RR get the Repsol, it looks sweet looking. No matter what I said, hopefully it helped, but I love my 071000RR black/grey, Its more than enough, even having a passenger, Im able to ride quick enough with the rest.
Good luck again.

If you are not pushing the bike to the limits (like most people) you probably would not be able to discern any real performance difference. Pick the bike based on what visually appeals to you, deal you can get, or the image you want to project.I would've just as easily went fora GSXR1000 if I could have got a better deal on it.

I would also consider whatyou feel comfortable on. I used to ride a 600 hurricane years ago but now I found the 600 too small for me so I went with the 1K.I like Hondas becausethey seem reliaable to me. Back in the day my friends rodeyamahas I had the hurricane and their bikes always seemed to give trouble. Even though performance and handling are the main factors to consider I also base my decision on looks...guess I'm fickle.
