Default ticking

I have an 06 1000rr, w/ 2600 miles on it. Lately I've noticed at start up a ticking noise. I took it to the dealer and they told me it's normal. It's just the timing chain, and will self adjust it's self out. anyone ever heard of this or have the ticking noise. It sound like an exhaust leak, but I've checked, no leak.

Thewy are right. Among other noises you will hear are the chain doing its thing, the valves tapping and other "normal" noises. These bikes are manufactured to a very specific degree and will make noise due to the very small clearences. I've had my 05 1000RR since august of 05 and have put a little under 19k on it and have not had any problems with it at all.

Thanks for the reply, The only reason I worry so much, is that my friends bike same bike same year has no tick. Maybe his is covered up by his two brothers exhaust.

Same noise. 06 1000RR with 1400 miles. Same answers. Not to worry it's a HONDA!

I have an 04' and it has made the ticking noise on startup since I bought it brand new. Does it for about 10 to 15 seconds, then goes away. I have just over 6300 miles on her and no problems so far.

Agree with RICHS65 "Not to worry it's a HONDA"

You guys sure seem to have a lot of confidence in the reliability of Honda products...
Honda make mistakes.....? Nahhhh.......
Lol, I also have an 06 1000RR with barely 530 miles on it and guess what, it also has that ticking noise!
It worried me at first, but then i got use to it. I like noisy bikes anyways!
