hardnened AL is the key to long wear
the vortex sprockets are not as hard as AFAM so they wear faster

if you stick with 530 you can keep the old chain

if you go to 520 then you must get a 520 chain as well

check out www.kneedraggers.com

they have chain and sprocket kits

http://www.kneedraggers.com/details/...RR--50875.html

this is what I have, what a lot of people have actually

thanks fellas

For now I will stick with 1 down in the front and keep the stock chain
and after I buy the PCIII than ill change it to a 520 since it seems that its a stronger chain.

once again thank you all for the input.

520 is not stronger than the 530 that comes stock on the bike , the 520 weighs less and reduces unsprung weight.

The DID erv3 520 x ring chain is stronger than the oem 530 chain

it will handle well into the litre bike class

if you go to a 520 chain you must also get a 520 front and rear sprocket

if you want to keep the stock chain for whatever reason you must stick with 530 sprockets

read this site for any questions on chains, 1000rr whatever

this guy has forgotten more about this bike than 90% on any of these boards will ever know

1 down in front. Much smoother from a stop too. No more feathering the clutch, even on a hill.

How will going 1 down in front affect the speedo and odometer? Is it a significant difference? Is there an easy way to counter-balance the change?

you have to get a speedo healer and then find the percentage of how much it is off compared to a reliable measurement device like a radar gun or gps
then you go the speedo healer webpage and it will calculate the numbers you dial into the unit

its easier than it sounds

I like the stock gearing. It's similar to my -1 front from my old gixxer.
