Default Speedometer check

Sorry to all of you for asking what may be a very stupid question, but I recently decided to be STUPID and mess with the idle screw a bit on my 04' 1000rr. I finally got the idle back to what seemed normal (idle around 1100-1200 RPM) but now my speedometer is off by about 10MPH. I am doing literally 70 when my speedometer is reading 60. Is there any way to "re-calibrate" or do I just have to know what is going on to avoid any potential "tickets"? one more question (perhaps a follow up) but the outside of the idle screw is a piece of plastic and the inside has an actual screw inside of it, is there any connection? or are they one in the same? if I put a screwdriver into the screw and turn is it the same as turning the plastic cover? they both seem to move (in and out, and obviously left and right) but I am unsure if either of them make a difference. Any of you "bike savvy" peopel out there I would GREATLY appreciate any thoughts on possible fixes!
