I got a 04 1000 and didnt know honda did a recall on the speedo. When did they recall them, i bought my 04 back in feburary. Guess i need to call about mine, even thought it seems to work fine.

Summary:
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, SOME DIGITAL SPEEDOMETERS MAY EXPERIENCE A COMPUTER PROGRAM ERROR, CAUSING THE SPEEDOMETER TO INDICATE APPROXIMATELY 25 PERCENT LESS THAN THE ACTUAL VEHICLE SPEED.

Consequence:
THIS CONDITION CAN RESULT IN THE VEHICLE BEING DRIVEN AT AN ILLEGAL OR UNSAFE SPEED, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN UPDATED SPEEDOMETER AND ASSOCIATED COMPONENTS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON MAY 11, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009.

Chances are the recall has not been done. Just call your local dealer and they will run the vin to see if it has be done. If you still have not done this, this is good, b/c when they replace your speedo, the whole unit is replaced and there is no way for them to put the actual miles of the bike onto the new speedo. I now have 2800 miles on my bike that really has 16,000k. Get the mileage back up to where it was when you registered it and sell it like you never even rode it. JUST KIDDING, no but really.
