Tell me about it, went to the dealer to get an extra plug for my boys CRF250R, and that is the one it took. I about fainted when they told me the price for ONE PLUG!!! Then he said that he doesn't think I will ever need to use it cuz those plugs/bikes don't burn em up for some reason. So that is a good thing I guess.

Laters.

I guess we all need to save our cash for a tune-up. How often do you need to change the plugs in the 1k???? Does it make a difference how you ride??????? And last, can you purchase the plugs somewhere other than Honda???????????

Default RE: Spark plugs

I answered my own question. They do, But they have different part numbers. The cbr 1000 ngk spark plug part number is (imr9c-9hes). An the 954 ngk spark plug part number is (imr9c-9h). They both are iridium plugs and the same price in the dealer and on the net but I found them cheaper. The dealer wants 18.00 for the 1000 plugs same price for the 954 also. So I called nga and asked what was the difference. They said very little in fact the only thing the (es) stands for in the 1000s part number is the crush washer(gasket) is stainless steel. The 954s part number is just steel. Ngk said that its no big deal just the 1000s have a newerversion ngk plug. I went all over trying to beat the dear prices. I didn't want to be a fool. Anyways Advance auto parts sells the 954 plugs they couldn't get the 1000s. The 954 plugs part number (imr9c-9h) advance sell for 9.00 bucks. Also advance part number for the (imr9c-9h) is (6777). I got all four for 41.00 bucks. Also my bike only has 8,000 miles on it they say under normal riding the iridium plug can go 30,000 miles easy. Only reason I'm changing mind cause I'm doing the pair mod with the block off plats being I'm going to be rite there I going to change them. I just thought you guys should know. For you dirt bike riders and any other bike Advance sells all kind of iridium plugs. You just might get lucky

I am sure some will dissagree with me but you will almost never have to change the plugs on the 1krr. With iridium plugs and EFI they shouldn't ever foul up? the gas is controled by the computer so you can't really flood them bad enough to foul them up. like a carburated bike that has a choke. these plugs should last as long as you will want to own the bike. as long as you don't get any bad gas or moisture. They will go quite awhile.

Not sure what you mean by this but, if you mean changing plugs to improve better performance, these plugs are as top of the line as you can get pretty much, changing them won't give you anything more. maybe changing wires, similar to when you add racing wires in a car but it won't be that big of a difference.

If you mean, changing the plugs out because you have everything torn apart already doing other mods, than i say go for it depending on the miles you have. If you still are low than don't worry about it, if you have REAL high milage than it wouldn't hurt.

simply due to the $$$ i wouldn't do it unless i knew for sure i needed to.
