Default slight bend in rim

my mechanic showed me what he says happens to a motorcycle rim if you ride with a slightly bent rim, there's a slight warp close to the edge of the rim next to the tire only about the side of a dime, and then he proceeds to show me a rim that basically look like it exploded with only the center of the circle completely shattered.... now does this actually happen or is the mechanic full of ****? cause never seen anything close to this happening with car wheels besides maybe mag wheels. CBR wheels aren't mag right? -_-;

CBR wheels are alloy. On track I have bent the edge of rim a couple of times and could still ride with it, but what do you actually mean by 'slightly bent rim'? Pictures please.
