Default Safety Recall

Hey Guys,

I just wanted to let you all know that I got a recall notice on my bike today. Its for a water hose clamp. The clamp has been failing at sustained high engine speed usage, spilling hot coolant on your left leg.

I dont have the range on the VINS but it was on the 2008 1000rr.

call 866-784-1870 to see if you are in the lucky group of bikes.

I'll probaby have a scalded left leg before Honda Canada mails my letter. You guys in the states get served first...my clutch recall letter lagged by about 5 months.

Got mine yesterday. I'm wondering if they'll need to drain the coolant system in order to replace the clamp. If so I'll be pretty p'd off if I have to shell out hundreds of dollars while waiting for reimbursement.

My plan...

Take it in just before it goes up for the winter.

You dont have to pay for it. Since its a recall your shop cant charge you. They get paid to do the work by Honda...

You only get reimbursed if you had it replaced prior to the recall.

That makes me feel alot better. The clutch recall was done before I even drove it off the lot so I had no idea how Honda handles the recalls. If anyone takes their bike in please let us know how long your dealer takes to do it.
