RE: Recommened Service?????
the break in argument will never be solved
there will always be people on either side
however read this site
www.rogueracing.org
the owner of this site mike wheeler aka Lord Duckhunter (also a track instructor and top notch mechanic) has forgotten more about bikes than the majority of 1KRR riders will ever learn
his suggestions 75% of redline for the first 150 miles is your limit
then up from there
its a debate that will never be solved but when you consider that all engines are ran to redline at the factory why would they tell you not to once you get it
check out this very controversial website

RE: Recommened Service?????
Im new to the forum.....as im reading the thread.....man !!! the most important part of the break in of a new bike is the first 600 miles. then follow your manual.
my dealer...charged me 120 for the first 600 miles. then went through the whole bike. they asked me if i wanted to watch while they were performing the check up, the teck guy went check all bolts, air filter, fuel injection assy, brake fluids and brakes...it took them two hours to do a thorough inspection.
after 600 miles check up.....i changed my oil with motul 20-40 oil. at 2000 miles synthetic blend...it keeps my bike running about 170-177 temperature pretty cool....by the way, im in California.
as i keep reading some people really need to pay attention to their manuals...and follow the schedule charts.
i have being riding motorcycles for the past 18 years....and one thing for sure, again....600 mile check up is the most important thing in a new motorcycle. im not so sure about redline the new bike.......i would ride the bike for the first 3500-5000 miles then redline it...but then again that is my opinion.
ride on guys and stay out of the hwy patrols eyes.!!!!!
